Alien planet or not, there's no way I'm spending another Thanksgiving alone. I know I'm not the only American trapped in this place. And I can't be the only person here with a thing or two to be thankful for.

[It had been one of her favorite holidays as a child. Her mother had reminded her every year just how much she had to be thankful for growing up in the Bishop family, never needing to want for anything. They'd spend the day in one of the soup kitchens her mother helped to run and serve meals to those in need. She never complained, even as a little girl.

By the time they came home at the end of the afternoon, it seemed like Christmas had come early. Food would be spread out on the dining room table and her father would actually be home from the office in time to spend a meal with the rest of them. Eleanor would insist they all eat dinner together, It hadn't been just the Bishop family that night, but their cook and nanny and housekeeper. Everyone together, one big family.

It had been one of the first traditions to go after her mother died. Thanksgiving had become a day to slave away in the soup kitchens, nothing more.

Kate takes a deep breath, looking pointedly at the camera. If a flicker of sadness and longing crosses her face, it's in your imagination. There's no regrets here. Not one whatsoever. Life is too short to let those emotions keep dictating your every action.]

So, guys, what do you say? I've never exactly prepared my own meal but it can't be that hard. Thursday, 5 pm, my place. Bring whatever you want. I'll provide the bird.

Man, he should've handled this way sooner. Way, way sooner. But depressive Billy was one thing and kind of avoiding teen mom was another and here he is at the waypoint, about a month late in conversations that should be had. ]

[She's almost surprised to see him respond. They haven't exactly been all that talkative since Billy's alternate reality came to an abrupt ending. Okay, so with the exception of dropping off the news that Cassie's gone, she's pretty much been avoiding him all together.

It's stupid of her. What was she ever so afraid of to begin with? That there might actually be something between them? Because that's so not the case. At least not anymore

Whatever thing it is that's sprung up between herself and Simon suddenly makes it a whole lot easier to to talk to Tommy. He even gets a roll of her eyes, like this any other conversation.]

Jeez, Speed. I can cook, you know.

[ He really doesn't want to think about it. It'd be a bad idea to start anything here anyway and he's not sure why someone would, since there's the ever present threat of them leaving. So if they pretend that none of that happened, that's...

[Thanksgiving has never been an thing that he's celebrated but she does have a point about being thankful for things.]

[Maybe she shouldn't look so happy to see Sam's reply. But there's something about his smile that brings one to her own face. It's really silly and it makes her feel uncomfortable flustered if she thinks too much about it, but she had been hoping he'd reply. Him and Simon both.]

Really? [It's the lack of friends here, she tells herself. Not that she had all that many back home to begin with. And Simon's... Simon's complicated. Not that she really minds complication all that much right now, not where Simon's involved.] That'd be great! What can you cook?

Yeah! I mean, I've got plenty to be thankful for and it'll be fun.

Uh... [Oh now there's a question.] I dunno. I could do vegetables I guess. Or... what do you eat at Thanksgiving? Besides Turkey.

Letting you spend Thanksgiving by yourself? I'm pretty sure that's a crime. So as a dashing crime-fighter, it's only my duty to step in, myself. I don't know much about baking the bird, but I'll have you know I can whip up the meanest saurkraut you'll ever meet.

[She'll take all the dashing crime-fighters really to come. Kate's not picky. At this point, she'll even take strangers. Billy and Teddy are away and she doesn't know if they'll be back in time for the holiday.

It hurts. But she does her best not to let it show.]

Sauerkraut, huh? I can't say it screams Thanksgiving, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Hey, it's a family thing. Trust me, it goes good as a side dish. Thanksgiving may live for the turkey, but you gotta remember the side dishes.

Just be careful with that turkey. If you never cooked one before, you'd be better off making sure you have help.

[And she means it, too. It doesn't matter how weird this whole alternate universe things really is. Kate hasn't had a real female friend since Cassie died. It's good to have one again. Who knew the whole club prospect would be this profitable?]

Feel free to bring whatever you want. Kurt's already providing the sauerkraut.

[Wanda smiles. She, too, is happy to have a female friend. She's not ever really had one, before, and she's very pleased with how things with Kate are going. Y'know-- ignoring everything that happened during Billy's spell because... yeah.

Her smile falters a little, as her eyes go wide at the mention of Kurt, an embarrassed blush creeping across her cheeks. Wanda has a terrible poker face.] Oh. That's-- Good. Yes.

It's my favorite holiday.

[It's a little uncharacteristic, the way she responds with a slight blush on her face. Her head is ducked and she tucks back a strand of dark hair. For some reason, it suddenly seems very important that Simon knows this. More than that, it's important that he's willing to understand and join in on the festivities.

[Simon grins, intrigued. This isn't a holiday he normally celebrates, so he's a little curious in general.]

We usually have one over at the X-House. You're welcome to come an' bring you an' yours. But it sounds like you've already got quite a crowd. [She can't help but laugh at Kurt committing to both. It just figures. It's a good thing he's a teleporter, otherwise someone would have to roll him home.]

[Although she's almost certain people like Wanda and Kurt already have an invitation to Thanksgiving Dinner at the X-House. She's never not known the X-Men to be at least a little bit cliquey.]
