4th Shot [video]
Alien planet or not, there's no way I'm spending another Thanksgiving alone. I know I'm not the only American trapped in this place. And I can't be the only person here with a thing or two to be thankful for.
[It had been one of her favorite holidays as a child. Her mother had reminded her every year just how much she had to be thankful for growing up in the Bishop family, never needing to want for anything. They'd spend the day in one of the soup kitchens her mother helped to run and serve meals to those in need. She never complained, even as a little girl.
By the time they came home at the end of the afternoon, it seemed like Christmas had come early. Food would be spread out on the dining room table and her father would actually be home from the office in time to spend a meal with the rest of them. Eleanor would insist they all eat dinner together, It hadn't been just the Bishop family that night, but their cook and nanny and housekeeper. Everyone together, one big family.
It had been one of the first traditions to go after her mother died. Thanksgiving had become a day to slave away in the soup kitchens, nothing more.
Kate takes a deep breath, looking pointedly at the camera. If a flicker of sadness and longing crosses her face, it's in your imagination. There's no regrets here. Not one whatsoever. Life is too short to let those emotions keep dictating your every action.]
So, guys, what do you say? I've never exactly prepared my own meal but it can't be that hard. Thursday, 5 pm, my place. Bring whatever you want. I'll provide the bird.

[And she means it, too. It doesn't matter how weird this whole alternate universe things really is. Kate hasn't had a real female friend since Cassie died. It's good to have one again. Who knew the whole club prospect would be this profitable?]
Feel free to bring whatever you want. Kurt's already providing the sauerkraut.

Her smile falters a little, as her eyes go wide at the mention of Kurt, an embarrassed blush creeping across her cheeks. Wanda has a terrible poker face.] Oh. That's-- Good. Yes.

But she's so not above calling out other people on similar reactions. Her lips curl into an amused grin]
...was it something I said?
no subject
[Yes. BRILLIANT. No one will EVER be able to get through THAT labyrinth of cunning logic and verbal riposte. The Scarlet Witch is indeed scarlet.]

I'd suggest a little less stuttering if you really want to be convincing, Wanda.

[No, now you're pouting.]

.. well. Now I'm not.
[Locked to Wanda]
Kate's not that mean as to blurt out theories where anyone could read them.]
So, either you have a sauerkraut fetish you've managed to hide really well or you like Kurt.
[Locked]
VERY red, she splutters and purses her lips, trying to figure out a response to that.]
. . . I don't have a-- fetish.
[Deflection! And technically true! Would probably be more convincing if there hadn't been such a pause in front of it.]
[Locked]
Not a fetish. Got it.
[Grin, grin, grin.]
Kurt, huh?

Do you want him to know?
[Locked]
I... I don't know. [This time it comes out almost as if it's one word, suddenly and blurted. ]
There was-- a thing that... happened on the Moon. And-- I mean even if... I just-- I don't know. [Can they please go back to talking about cranberries? D:]
[Locked]
What kind of thing?
[Locked]
Um. ... A-- thing. ... On the boat ride. ... with... kissing. [she sort of fades out there at the end.]
[Locked]
She'll never be able to look at another Tunnel of Love ride again in the same way. It's kind of a hard thing for a girl to forget the place where she had her first orgasm with a boy.]
Um. [God, what's she supposed to say now.] ...kissing's not so bad.
[Locked]
... no, no. The kissing was good. [Teeny, tiny voice. Smart Alec.] ... really good.
[Locked]
[Locked]
... You've kissed him too?!
[Locked]
[Her blue eyes go wide and all she can do is sit there for a moment and stare agape at the journal. How...? What...?]
No!
[Locked]
[Hey! Between what Li'l Loki said, and what Kurt himself said on the ride, Wanda doesn't know who Kurt's been macing on. And as it turns out, Wanda is the jealous type. Who knew?
Jealous over a guy who may or may not even like her. Good lord. How. Sad.]
