4th Shot [video]
Alien planet or not, there's no way I'm spending another Thanksgiving alone. I know I'm not the only American trapped in this place. And I can't be the only person here with a thing or two to be thankful for.
[It had been one of her favorite holidays as a child. Her mother had reminded her every year just how much she had to be thankful for growing up in the Bishop family, never needing to want for anything. They'd spend the day in one of the soup kitchens her mother helped to run and serve meals to those in need. She never complained, even as a little girl.
By the time they came home at the end of the afternoon, it seemed like Christmas had come early. Food would be spread out on the dining room table and her father would actually be home from the office in time to spend a meal with the rest of them. Eleanor would insist they all eat dinner together, It hadn't been just the Bishop family that night, but their cook and nanny and housekeeper. Everyone together, one big family.
It had been one of the first traditions to go after her mother died. Thanksgiving had become a day to slave away in the soup kitchens, nothing more.
Kate takes a deep breath, looking pointedly at the camera. If a flicker of sadness and longing crosses her face, it's in your imagination. There's no regrets here. Not one whatsoever. Life is too short to let those emotions keep dictating your every action.]
So, guys, what do you say? I've never exactly prepared my own meal but it can't be that hard. Thursday, 5 pm, my place. Bring whatever you want. I'll provide the bird.

Really? [It's the lack of friends here, she tells herself. Not that she had all that many back home to begin with. And Simon's... Simon's complicated. Not that she really minds complication all that much right now, not where Simon's involved.] That'd be great! What can you cook?
Yeah! I mean, I've got plenty to be thankful for and it'll be fun.
Uh... [Oh now there's a question.] I dunno. I could do vegetables I guess. Or... what do you eat at Thanksgiving? Besides Turkey.
They all have something.]
Anything. Someone's volunteered to bring sauerkraut. We usually kept it a bit more traditional back when... [She falters just for a moment before shrugging off the sadness.] Back when Mom was still alive. Stuffing, pies, casseroles, biscuits...
Oooh, biscuits! I could make biscuits. Shortbread isn't hard, I don't think. And I could putt chocolate in it too.
And giggling ensues.]
Not those kind of biscuits, Charming.
What other kind of biscuit is there?
...the normal kind?
Savory, not sweet.
Not exactly. They're softer than that. You guys have to have something similar.
I have no idea. You should obviously show me what they're like, yeah?

[Especially since, y'know, Kate's never exactly made biscuits before. Or any of these foods if she's being honest.]
I could probably use some with whatever I do end up making.

[She shrugs, suddenly feeling a little uncomfortable with her statement. It's kind of become a regular thing, that thing between her and Simon, but she's still not exactly certain what kind of thing it is. She's been too frightened to have that conversation. Hawkeyes and relationships? So not a thing that go together.]
But, uh, I'd like that. Probably a lot better than using the communal kitchen.
[Sam at least doesn't seem to notice any oddness to the statement.]
Yeah. Probably. The houses here do have pretty nice facilities.
[She smirks a little. For all Simon's teased them in the past, he almost deserves this.]
Do you think he'll want in? Make it a Thanksgiving pre-party?
[It's not exactly cooking with Billy and Teddy but... It'll be good to have a change of scenery. She hadn't realized just how much time she used to spend outside of her apartment before arriving here. So what if a lot of that had been at Clint's lately?
It's good to have that again.]
When works for you guys?
Re: [Video]
Yeah. For a moment, I guess I forget we're still stuck here in Luceti.
