3rd Shot [action/video]
[So, avoidance. It's a fun thing. Everyone should try it sometime. Because when your idea world comes and goes and you find out that a couple of your best friends nearly died while you were too busy living out a fantasy life? It's remarkably easy to take up a new job path of professional shut in.
Okay, so it hasn't exactly been that severe. She's gone to visit Teddy and Billy multiple times. There's training with Logan to attend (like she's going to miss the chance to show off to an X-Man-slash-Avenger). Girl time with Cassie and a nightclub to keep planning. Not to mention a chance to finally wien Lucky off of his pizza-rich diet.
Kate's been good at keeping busy. But, if she sits down and considers her situation frankly, it's kind of clear that denial's not just a river in Egypt. She hasn't seen Tommy since Billy's spell ended, making certain that their visiting hours with Billy and Teddy haven't overlapped. Because, seriously? In an ideal world, she's in love with Tommy Shepherd?
That's not something that she's touching with a ten foot pole.
She also hasn't talked to Wanda much, either. Some business partner she is. But things are a little weird and complicated on that end now, too. There's the whole mutant thing, not to mention the fact that she had played mother to Kate's then boyfriend.
Yeeeeeeeah.
[Action]
Most of her day's been spent doing the normal activities. Taking Lucky for a walk, dragging him around with her as she staples advertisements for nightclub positions on trees all around town. She's already recruited Elrich to build the place - a decent sized building right near a couple of the stores. And when Billy's better, she'll recruit him to help do the interior design rather than dare let him slip into a depressed slump. She's had enough of that already from him back home, thanks all the same.
But there are other jobs - permanent jobs - that'll be needed in order to have things run smoothly.
Around lunch, she'll stop at the coffee shop (still with Lucky in tow) for a break. She stretches out on one of the booths by the window, people watching rather than reading the book on the table in front of her. That evening, Kate can be found at the Battledome, testing out some of the bows Clint left behind.
It's not until night that she opens the journal again. Sitting on her bed, dressed in a white tanktop and purple pajama buttons, she absently scratches the mutt's head. The feed is set to video and she forces a grin on her face.]
Bored? Looking for a little bit of gainful employment? Then I've got the job for you. [Grin, grin, grin. She's absolutely trustworthy, Luceti. Not to mention determined and stubborn.] For all those of you I haven't had a chance to meet, my name's Kate Bishop. I hail from one of the many Earths represented here. The same one as Billy Kaplan and Teddy Altman, in case you've met them.
[Because it's always good to have people who can vouch for you. She lifts her hand from Lucky to wave it in dismissal, earning a mildly irked look from the dog.]
But that's all beside the point. I mentioned jobs, didn't I? With all the crazy space opera drama going on lately, if there's anything this place needs, it's a little bit of fun. Yeah, we have a bar. But what good is a bar if you can't dance? Since Cloud Nine's fallen into disrepair, Wanda Maximoff and I have taken it upon ourselves to offer you - the lucky citizens of Luceti - a brand new, even better option. Cloud Nine 2.0. Or something. We're still working out the kinks in the name.
So, this is where you come in, Luceti. There's only so much Wanda and I can do on our own. And though we've got some great people helping us now, we're going to need permanent staffers. I'm talking DJs, soundguys, bartenders, waiters and waitresses. Hell, even a bouncer or two if things get rowdy. Think of the perks. Free alcohol, a chance to give back to your community in the most entertaining way possible. A break from the ennui that doesn't involve war and death.
Interested? Contact either myself or Wanda for more details. There are signs posted all around town in case you need the reminder.
[She places two fingers to her forehead and gives a quick salute. Lucky glances up at her and then at the journal, before resting his head back on his front paws, disgruntled by the lack of attention.]
See you there. Hawkeye, out.

[Besides, he's too much of a woobie to be the sort of guy Kate usually chases after.]
Re: [Video]

[Oh god. Barton's been a horrible influence. Oh my god, Katie, you did not just say that!]
Re: [Video]
I'd have to be blind not to.
Re: [Video]
Yeah?
Re: [Video]
Re: [Video]
[Keep it cool, Katie Kate.]
It's been a while.
[Because shift-caused flirtations and relationships totally do not count.]
Re: [Video]
Well that's a pity, to be certain. What's wrong with everyone else here? Maybe they're blind after all.
Yeah, still not touching that one with a ten foot poll.]
Or not nearly as smooth as you, Zombie Boy.
Re: [Video]
Well, no, but let's be honest, not many can. That's still no excuse.
Y'know, I can probably listen to you compliment me all night.
Re: [Video]
....Are you trying to make Sammy jealous now?
Re: [Video]

Re: [Video]

[But let's face it. Kate would probably eat him alive.]
Like I said, it's been a while.
[And she's never been good at this from the start. Hawkeyes and relationships just don't seem to mix.]
Re: [Video]
If it makes you feel better, it's probably been a while for him, too.
And I'm going to go make myself scarce now, just in case he's reading this and decides to murder his second favorite Runner. Just to spare him the regret of it later.
Re: [Video]
Y'know, I wouldn't blame him right about now.
Re: [Video]
No one ever would. Looking forward to your club. Going to go now before you change your mind and rescind the request for help in light of my charming personality. It's a lot to take all at once, I know, I know. I promise to behave myself for... at least the first hour or two. Promise.
Re: [Video]
Well?
Re: [Video]
[He gives her a wink.] Try not to miss me.
[And with that he does cut off the feed. But not before there's a muffled holler of his name from the direction of Sam's room. Oops?]
